O Web Summit Rio is one of the largest technology and innovation events in the world, taking place for the first time in Latin America, in Rio de Janeiro, between May 1 and 4. The event will bring together more than 500 investors, 750 startups and 20,000 people at Riocentro.

In this article we will talk about the history of the event, its importance, and who will be attending, as well as giving a suggested program for those interested in topics such as data, e-sports, artificial intelligence, and information security.

What is Web Summit and how did it come about?

The Web Summit has been held annually since 2009, taking place in its first five years in Dublin, Ireland. In 2015, the event moved to Lisbon, Portugal. After two editions, Web Summit announced a partnership with the Portuguese government, which guarantees the conference in the country until the year 2028.

The Web Summit is considered one of the world's leading events for the digital market, technology and startups, connecting CEOs, investors, politicians, content creators and media to discuss trends and innovation. In 2023, with the event's expansion, Rio de Janeiro will become a hub for discussion on technology-related topics.

Who will be at Web Summit Rio 2023?

Some of the top companies present are Unilever, Microsoft, IBM, Siemens, Amazon, Nestlé, Forbes, Visa, Canon and Philips. The trend companies most in demand by participants include Itaú, Banco do Brasil, Sebrae, KPMG, Oracle, Icatu Seguros, EDP Brasil, Grupo Boticário, Banco BV, Carrefour, Claro Brazil, PayPal, AWS, Magalu, Embraer and Petrobras.

Levva, a Brazilian technology company, will also participate in the event after having marked its presence in the 2021 and 2022 editions in Lisbon.
